New York: The City of Sleep?
If you’re in NYC, you can sleep tight. Maybe not as tight as Chicago, Austin, or San Diego, but we’re still up there with the best of them when it comes to having a good night’s rest. RealAge just let out their best and worst cities for insomnia, and we came 22nd. A good result, and an interesting report…
Here’s what RealAge had to say:
“Sleep has a big effect on how you feel and can have an effect on your RealAge, as well,” says RealAge Chief Medical Officer Keith Roach, M.D. Because slumber has an impact on everything from your weightto your mood, it’s a key factor in the RealAge 2012 Youngest & Oldest Cities Report. “Although most of our test-takers don’t get enough sleep, too much sleep is actually worse for your health,” says Roach. The ideal: 7-8 hours of slumber every night. That can make your RealAge up to 1.5 years younger. Is your city helping you get a good night’s sleep or keeping you awake?
